Warner Brothers Pepe le Pew
Americans who grew up in the 1970s, a very rich era in the history of animation, knows the name Pepe le Pew: the skunk who attempted to woo the ladies with flowers and flattery. One of the famed Looney Tunes characters, he's in good company with Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck.
Pepe le Pew is an aggressive suitor, which makes ladies run from his amorous advances. His odor, too, made it difficult for him to find true love (if that's what he was looking for!). In many episodes, he was referred to (usually by a French policeman) as a "very smelly cat." Unlucky (and oblivious) in love, Pepe managed to win the hearts of many cartoon fans despite his unique odor.
A lot of the old Warner Bros. cartoon characters are making a comeback. Along with Pepe le Pew, there are fans of Elmer Fudd, Sylvester the Cat and Tweety Bird, as well as Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. Those who are lucky enough to find copies of the old cartoons find that they are still hilarious, and the animation is still bright and very well done.
You can find Pepe le Pew stuffed animals, clocks, drinking glasses, decals, and toys. Despite the prevalence of high-tech, fast-moving modern cartoons, it's clear the classics are still holding on to their popularity. In fact, you can even find Pepe le Pew checkbook covers, attesting to the fact that he's popular with adults as well as kids.
